Kochi airport first in world to get top UN environmental award

The United Nations has honoured the Cochin International Airport (CIAL) with ‘Champion of Earth’ award for being the first airport in the world to be completely powered by solar energy.

Two Indians among 2018 Ramon Magsaysay Award winners

Two Indians Bharat Vaswani and Sonam Wangchuk are among six individuals who were declared winners of this year’s Ramon Magsaysay Award.
Established in 1957, the Ramon Magsaysay Award is Asia’s highest honour.
It celebrates the memory and leadership example of the third Philippine president after whom the award is named.

India Heritage Walk fete wins PATA award

India Heritage Walk Festival, a collaboration of Sahapedia and YES Arts & Culture, has been awarded the PATA Gold Award 2018.
Sahapedia is an open online resource on the arts, cultures and heritage of India.

NABARD award for Repco Micro Finance

Repco Micro Finance Ltd, a non-banking finance company promoted by Repco Bank, received Nabard 2018 award for its service to self-help group (SHG) linkage in Tamil Nadu for the fiscal year 2017-18.

‘Sangita Kalanidhi’ award

Carnatic vocalist Aruna Sairam has been selected for this year’s ‘Sangita Kalanidhi’ award of the Music Academy.
The ‘Sangita Kalanidhi’ and other music awards would be presented at the ‘Sadas’ of the music festival.

Himachal Pradesh has been adjudged first among states for its performance under the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA) in the country.
Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda conferred the award upon the state which was received by Additional Chief Secretary, Health, BK Agarwal.

Noted artist Anjolie Ela Menon has received the National Kalidas Samman for visual arts from the Madhya Pradesh government.
