World’s Tallest Hotel ‘Gevora’ opens in Dubai

  • The Gevora Hotel in Dubai, developed by the Al Attar Group has now become the “world’s tallest hotel”.

  • It stands 356 metres and 53 centimetres tall.

  • It is one metre taller than the previous holder of the title, the JW Marriott Marquis, in the same city.

  • The title has been confirmed by Guinness Book of World Records.

China reopens Nathu La route

  • China has confirmed “resumption” of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra through the Nathu La route.
  • Kailash Mansarovar yatra via Nathu La was not undertaken last year after the Chinese govt cited “unfavourable conditions” to ensure safe & smooth conduct of the yatra on this route.
  • The yatra was stopped by China in the aftermath of the military face-off with India last year at Doklam.

UAE launches World’s Longest Zip Line

  • The United Arab Emirates has made a record by opening the world’s longest zip line, measuring 2.83 km in length.
  • Guinness World Records officials certified the zip line in Ras al-Khaimah.
  • The Jebel Jais Flight takes thrill-seekers atop the country’s largest mountain peak, from a launch pad 1,680 meters (5,512 feet) above sea level.
