Having the same capacity 9 taps fill up a water tank in 20 min. How many taps of the same capacity are required to fill up the same water tank in 15 min?

  • Explanation

    In one minute, 9 taps fill 120th part of water tank

    similarly, in one minute, 1 tap fills 120×9=1180th part of water tank

    Let the number of taps used to fill the tnk in 15 min be x.

    So, x × 1180=115

    upon cross multiplication,

    x=18015=12 taps

    Therefore, 12 taps can fill the tank in 15 minutes

    Hence option C is correct.
