If two pipes function together, the tank will be filled in 6 hours. One pipe fills the tank 5 hours faster than the other. How many hours does the faster pipe take to fill the tank?

    Let the faster pipe fill the tank in x hours.

    then the slower pipe fills in (x+5) hours

    According tot he question, both the pipes together can fill the tank in 6 hours.

    xx+5x+x+5=6 hoursx2+5x=12x+30x2-7x-30=0

    As the question is about the pipe that fills faster, we will neglect negative value
