There are some parrots and some tigers in a forest. If the total number of animal heads in the forest are 858 and total number of animal legs are 1746, what is the number of parrots in the forest?

    If the number of parrots in the forest is x,then number of tigers = 858−x∴  x×2+ (858-x)×4=1746⇒ 2x = 3432−1746 = 1686⇒                          x=16862                                   =843
