Q)

A fruit seller has a crate of apple containing 1 bruised apple for every 40 apples in the crate, If 3 out of every 4 bruised apples are considered unsaleable and there are 9 unsaleable apples in the crate then how many apples are there in the crate?

  • Explanation

    Given that,

Let the total number of apples in the crate = A

Then, number of bruised apples= a40

    Number of unsaleable apple

Since, 4 bruised apple containing 3 unsaleable apple

∴ 1 bruise apple will contain 34 unsaleable apple

Hence, a40 bruise apple will contain 34×a40 unsaleable apple

    = 34×a40=3a160From the question,= 3a160=9a=9×1603a=3×160=480

    Hence, Option C is correct.
