    After labelling the figure, we get the following,

    • Simplest triangles AHB, GHI, BJC, GFE, GIE, IJE, CEJ and CDE (8)
    • Triangles with two components each HEG, BEC, HBE, JGE and ICE (5)
    • Triangles with three components each FHE, GCE and BED (3)
    • Triangles with four components is AGE (1)
    • Triangles with nine components is AFD (1)

    Total number of triangles in the figure is 8 + 5 + 3 + 1 + 1 = 18

    Hence option B is correct.
